John Coltrane on soprano sax, McCoy Tyner piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass and Elvin Jones on drums.
Trane is known for his muscular tenor but on this you can hear his sweet floating melody on soprano
with Jones and Garrison doing a 3 pulse beat of complex rhythmic patterns.

Small combo swing by the Miles Davis Quintet Airegin 4 meg song features Miles trumpet, Trane tenor, Red Garland piano, Paul Chambers bass and Philly Joe Jones on drums.
Composed by Sonny Rollins. Recorded in Greenwich Village, NY 10/26/56.
This combo spent 2 years together and left their stamp
on modern jazz.

Epistrophy 2.8 megs composed by Monk. NYC Five Spot Cafe in the summer of '57. Monk and Coltrane (solo) with Coleman Hawkins also on tenor, Ray Copeland trumpet (solo), Gigi Gryce alto, Wilbur Ware bass and Art Blakey drums. Monk's poetry breathes through Trane's horn.
